London to Windsor Castle Transfer

Windsor is one of England's most visited destinations outside London — the combination of Windsor Castle, the Long Walk, Windsor Great Park, and the charming town centre makes it a genuinely rich half-day or full-day destination. The town sits on the south bank of the Thames in Berkshire, directly across the river from Eton College.

Windsor Castle is open to the public year-round except during certain Royal Family events (the Castle periodically closes on short notice for state occasions). The Changing of the Guard ceremony at Windsor takes place at 11am on alternating days — check the Royal Collection Trust website for the current schedule. The State Apartments, St George's Chapel, and the Semi-State Rooms are the main visitor attractions within the castle precincts. Allow 2.5–3.5 hours for a thorough visit.

The Long Walk is a three-mile tree-lined avenue that stretches from the south façade of Windsor Castle to the Copper Horse statue of George III at the far end of Windsor Great Park. It is a favourite with walkers, cyclists, and photographers — particularly at dusk when the castle is illuminated. For visitors arriving by private car, we can drop at the Castle end and collect at the Great Park end (or vice versa) to create a linear rather than circular walk.

Windsor is just 7 miles from Heathrow Terminal 5 via the M4 and A332. Many international visitors arriving at Heathrow choose to visit Windsor before continuing to their London hotel — adding just 45–60 minutes to their transfer.
